Holi is one of the biggest festivals in india which is celebrated by all the age groups. Holi is only the festival which hindu and non-hindu people will have participated. Every year in the month of march people celebrate holi. There is an epic story and strong reason why we celebrate holi and why people will play with colors on holi eve. Many people in india don’t know the reason why we play holi with different colors.

In olden days king hiranyakashipu has a sister named holika both of them were killed by lord narasimha. Lord narasimha is one of the avatars of lord vishnu. Lord narasimha killed both king hiranyakashipu has a sister holika to save prahlada. Prahalada son of king hiranyakashipu. He believes in lord vishnu were as king hiranyakashipu is king of evils. One day holika traps prahalada and she took prahalada in a big fire.

Holika thought that she is wearing a cloak so he can be on fire and as per trap prahalada will be burned in that fire. But when they both enter into that big fire cloak of holika came on parahalada and holika burns. All this is done before king hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu frustrated and became angry and he decided to kill prahalada. Before that he broken all the pillars in his house and suddenly from one pillar lord narasimha has come out and killed demon king hiranyakashipu. From this day we celebrate holi festival.

After holika dies in fire people who lived in king hiranyakashipu kingdom they have kept holika ash on their foreheads. From that people will play holi with colorful colors to represent our feelings. Before holi night people will collect all the wooden blocks which are not used in the house and they will burn it on holi day morning and play with colors.
